I teach computer technology to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders at Kirksville Middle School in Northeast Missouri. This is my first year in this position and I love every minute of it. I recently transferred from 6th grade English at KMS after a 10-year stint.
I have a Journalism background which includes a Journalism & Mass Communications MA degree from New Mexico State University. Investigative reporting is my first and foremost passion; my family says I bleed black ink! I worked for the Las Cruces Sun-News and El Paso Times before moving to Missouri and becoming a teacher. I earned a BA in Elementary Education from Buena Vista University and a MATL in Curriculum & Instruction from Nova Southeastern University online. I also received a graduate certificate in Natioanl Board Teacher Leadership through National University online to help me through my National Board of Professional Teaching Standards process, which I became national board certified in middle school English. I love to read and write, and I pass this passion onto my middle school students as well as my own three daughters. I also have a minor in digital print design, and I am a 100% techno geek. I love all things technology. I think this is an amazing time to be on this Earth, as we get to watch this radically cool technology unveil itself right before our vary eyes.

My husband of 19 years is a musician of 31 years, who plays guitar in a local band, as well as an in our church’s praise and worship band. He also does digital recording, and gives guitar lessons. Together, we own a local coffee shop and roastery, The Mocha Hut, – a hobby turned business.
I am also a mom to 3 girls. The oldest, 16, is “profoundly” gifted, the youngest, 11, is “profoundly” gifted, and the middle, 13, is developmentally delayed (by 8-10 years). Because of our middle daughter’s disability, I have become a Special Olympics coach and participated in The Polar Bear Plunge!
